For the past 15 years, medical students at Washington University School of Medicine have produced and performed fully staged, choreographed, and orchestrated Broadway musicals. Shows in the past have included hits like Guys and Dolls, Young Frankenstein, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Legally Blonde, and The Addams Family. The show is entirely student-produced, with students performing onstage, conducting and playing in the pit orchestra, building sets, sewing costumes, running lights and sound, as well as directing the show. This year, we are proud to announce that we will be performing Shrek the Musical at St Louis College of Pharmacy’s Auditorium.
The Medical School Musical is an incredibly unique program and a fantastic extracurricular opportunity for medical students. This is a unique opportunity that is not found within other medical schools. This allows our students to engage in a musical experience that helps foster their well-being and interests. But, most importantly, this musical is a yearlong experience that fosters lasting friendships and bonds between students of different years and students of different programs. By collaborating with all medical programs under the WUSM umbrella, we truly create an environment of inter-professional fellowship as our show features MD, MSTP, DBBS, PT, OT, Audiology, Biostats, and even more student programs.
The musical is a perfect place to expand your horizons and try something new. Being a part of the musical is an amazing experience unlike anything else in your medical career. Please see below for a complete listing of past shows.
